We are Sally and Sam, a small family business selling Nepenthes and Hoya from northern Tasmania. We import Nepenthes from several mainland and international sources. We’re working on finding wholesale sources of Hoya, but for now Sally has ample species to propagate from.

All plant buyers in Australia have seen the small text at the bottom of the sale: “We don’t ship to the Northern Territory, Tasmania, or Western Australia”. When we decided to move to Tasmania in 2022 we realised that there were very few ways to get Nepenthes at all. The Hoya scene was quite active to Sally’s joy, but there were many species that were hard to acquire, or you had to pay ‘Tasmanian’ prices for. We knew that if we were going to figure out how to bring plants down for us, then we could figure out how to bring them down for everyone.

We’ve had a lot of advice and support from many of the other growers, sellers, and suppliers in Australia and to this we’re forever grateful. So many mainland stores and suppliers have been amazingly supportive and encouraging of the idea of a Tasmanian based Nepenthes store. We’ve been growing Nepenthes for around four years and Hoyas for around eight. In the grand scheme of growers that makes us relatively young but through the knowledge shared by the Australian growers it feels like we’ve had 20 years of growing experience crammed in our heads…
